New River Gorge National River is recruiting volunteers to assist with 2015 Summer Visitor Center Operations at Grandview

Glen Jean, West Virginia, May 19, 2015---Do you love talking to people, helping visitors find their way or enjoy sharing stories and history of the gorge area? Come Volunteer with us, welcoming and introducing visitors to the gorge and Grandview. Tasks at this location include but are not limited to: distributing information about the park, giving directions to locations in and around the park, and selling items in the visitor center bookstore.

Requirements for this volunteer experience include: ability to follow directions, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to read maps, basic First-Aid and CPR (training provided).

The Grandview area of New River Gorge National River is indeed a "Grand View", best known for its' vast panoramic views (1400 feet above the river), and beautiful rhododendron, which bloom in mid-May.   Nestled in the middle of scenic hiking trails, picnic areas and these spectacular blooms, is a quaint visitor center which is staffed generally June through August, daily 12-5. (Week day and weekend work is available).

Park staff will provide training to give interested volunteers an orientation to the park and its resources. The park is seeking volunteers who are able to commit at least one day of service per week. Visitor center volunteers will work11:45 AM to 5:15 PMat the Grandview Visitor Center in New River Gorge National River, Grandview, West Virginia.
