A ranger leads a hike along the Bluestone River

Glen Jean, West Virginia, June 19, 2014— Nature is around every corner, especially in the Bluestone River Gorge. Now that summer is officially here, explore life and history with a park ranger on a guided hike along the Bluestone River onSaturday, June 21 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. This leisurely, river-side walk is a fun way to experience the out-of-doors and learn about the natural world that surrounds us. This program is also a good place to find out more about the people who shaped our past too. Meet at the base of the Pipestem Resort State Park tramway for this 2.0 mile round-trip walk into the Bluestone National Scenic River. Bring $2.00 for the return tram ride. Wear comfortable walk shoes for this guided walk.

For more information about area National Park Service sites visit, check out the park Facebook page at, or stop by any New River Gorge National River visitor center.
