GLEN JEAN, WV- New River Gorge National Park and Preserve (NRGNPP) Superintendent Charles Sellars is pleased to announce the addition of a new Bike Repair Station at the trailheads of two of the parks more popular mountain biking areas, the Arrowhead and Rend Trails. The stations were purchased for the park by the Friends of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve (Friends) courtesy of a $4,050 donation to the Friends from the Enel North America – USA, a renewable energy corporation that is part of Enel Group.

The new stations provide a variety of tools including wrenches, a tire lever, screwdrivers, and a tire pump. Bikes can be mounted on the stand for ease of operation and access to features.

“We greatly appreciate our Friends group coordinating the purchase and installation of these stations,” said Superintendent Sellars. “It’s through their support that projects like these can be accomplished that greatly benefit park visitors.”

The Friends also recently coordinated the purchase and installation of raft blowers for private boaters at the Cunard River Access on the New River and Tailwaters River Access at Gauley River National Recreation Area, and monofilament fishing line receptacles at popular fishing areas throughout the park. The park also hopes to provide additional bike repair stations at a few other locations in the park.

More information about the Friends can be found on their website at friendsofnewriver.org on Facebook. Additional information and alerts about the park can be found at nps.gov/neri and on Facebook and Instagram.

The park hopes to be able to provide additional stations at other trailheads in the park in coming months.
