New River Gorge National River Seeks Caretaker for Camp Brookside

New River Gorge National River is seeking a three month volunteer caretaker for Camp Brookside, an emerging education center.This residential volunteer position will be provided with housing free of charge in exchange for 32 hours of volunteer service per week. Volunteer tasks include light maintenance of Camp Brookside grounds in addition to assisting with operations of Sandstone Visitor Center. Camp Brookside's facilities include 7 cabins, wash house, mess hall and caretaker's residence. Provided housing is a historic two bedroom caretaker residence that comes fully furnished and includes WIFI, washer/ dryer and a dishwasher. The ideal candidate will have a favorable background investigation, excellent communication skills and some maintenance experience. This position requires working outdoors for long periods of time in addition to sedentary work, standing, lifting, and bending.

Camp Brookside is located on a 32 acre island just 5 miles from Hinton and minutes from I-64. Originally opened in 1947, Camp Brookside provided a summer respite to the children of Alloy'sElectro Metallurgical Company.
