Glen Jean, West Virginia—Summer is here and it's a good time to explore your parks! Join a ranger or park partner for free hikes, talks, and other programs this June in New River Gorge National River and Bluestone National Scenic River. These guided activities provide a good opportunity to learn more about the natural world around us and the people and places that shaped area history. Be it a short walk through the historic railroad town of Thurmond, adventure skills building mini-classes at Camp Brookside, or a day hike along the Bluestone River, these varied activities are a good opportunity for adventures in parks. Visit the park web site to see the complete June 2016 program schedule. Some programs do require reservations. Wear comfortable walking shoes for all guided walks. Water, snacks, a camera, and binoculars are other useful tools to bring along. We look forward to seeing you in local national parks!
America's 411 national parks work with communities across the nation to help preserve local history and create close-to-home recreational opportunities. Visit us at www.nps.gov, on Facebook www.facebook.com/ |
