A low stone wall borders a garden, with tall brown grasses and green plants with bright purple flowers.
Only a few steps away from the information kiosk at the site's entrance, Lucy's Garden provides opportunities to touch, smell, and look at bright-colored flowers.

Multisensory Activities

Lucy's Garden, behind the information kiosk, provides multisensory experiences. Visitors can touch and smell the plants. Do not pick leaves or flowers. Be aware of any stinging insects and give them space.

An open-sided kiosk stands just to the left of a paved two-lane road.
The kiosk provides shade in strong sunlight, though can be crowded and noisy on busy days.

Noises, Smells, and Quiet Spaces

The information kiosk is located next to County Highway 2. Trucks and farm equipment can be loud as they pass by. Traffic noise from nearby Interstate 72 can also carry throughout the site.

Strong smells may be present throughout the site. Nearby farms may be spreading fertilizers like manure and lime. Brush burning in the area can make the site smoky and smell of campfire.

Depending on the time of year, the kiosk and augmented reality trail can be crowded. Benches along the augmented reality trail and the Burdick House grounds might offer areas away from crowds, noises, and smells.
