LAPWAI, Idaho – Nez Perce National Historical Park will close the parking lot for the Heart of the Monster site on April 4-5, 2024, due to an ongoing pavement project. The site can still be accessed by utilizing the pull-out along Hwy 12. This first phase of the pavement project will include asphalt and pavement patching. The next two phases of the project are tentatively scheduled for the weeks of April 22, 2024, and May 13, 2024. Nez Perce National Historical Park’s Spalding Visitor Center is located 12 miles east of Lewiston at 39063 U.S. Highway 95. Park admission is free year round.
