The National Park Service is taking steps to become leaders in environmental sustainability, and the Natchez Trace Parkway is doing its part. In its day to day operations, the Natchez Trace Parkway has the opportunity and obligation to be environmentally and energy conscious in its selection and use of needed products and services. This helps to demonstrate the National Park Service's commitment to environmental quality by becoming a model consumer of recycled content and environmentally preferable products and services.
Recycling is currently available for staff and visitors at the Parkway Visitor Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, and the Parkway Information Cabin, in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Green recycling bins are located near trash cans for visitors to use. The following materials can be recycled in these locations:
- Paper (office, magazines, newspapers)
- Plastic (coded 1-5)
