Washington - The National Park Service will drain the Rainbow Pool and other water features at the World War II Memorial on Sunday, June 25 to allow for replacement of the current incandescent light fixtures with high efficiency lighting. The pools will be refilled and operational again on Friday, June 30. The work is part of a multi-phased Energy Savings Performance Contract that will allow the National Mall to meet energy reduction, renewable energy and water conservation goals.

The work is being scheduled at this time to avoid any Honor Flights that will are scheduled to visit the memorial. This work is not related to the recent water quality issues that required the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to be drained and cleaned.
