Washington Monument to reopen September 19

The re-opening is another example of how the Trump Administration is enhancing visitors’ experiences at national parks and public lands across the nation.
 
WASHINGTON – The Washington Monument will reopen to the public on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at 9 a.m. after a 37-month closure to modernize the elevator control system and construct a new security screening facility. 

How to get tickets

For tours Sept. 19-Oct. 18
Same-day tickets for opening day and all tours through Oct. 18 will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Washington Monument Lodge, located on 15th Street, between Madison Drive, NW and Jefferson Drive, SW. The monument will be open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
 
For tours beginning Oct. 19
Starting on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m., tickets may be ordered at www.recreation.gov for tour dates beginning on Oct. 19. For additional information, visit www.nps.gov/wamo/planyourvisit/fees.htm. Same-day tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis daily, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Washington Monument Lodge. The monument will be open daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
 
The re-opening of the Washington Monument is another example of how the Trump Administration is enhancing visitors’ experiences at national parks and public lands by better meeting critical infrastructure and maintenance needs.
