Hours of Operation Change at Mount Rushmore

KEYSTONE, SD: Transition to fall hours of operation will begin at Mount Rushmore National Memorial Sunday August 12.

The evening program will begin an hour earlier at 8:00 P.M. The Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center, Mount Rushmore Bookstores and museum as well as the Information Center's closing time will change to 9:00 P.M. Activities at the Heritage Village and Youth Exploration Area will be ending for the summer season. The final evening program for the season is September 30.

Closing hours of operation will change to 8:00 P.M. at the Carvers' Marketplace; 9:30 P.M. at the Gift Shop; 8:00 P.M. at the Memorial Ice Cream Shop; and 9:00 P.M. at the parking facility.

The National Park Service Historic Preservation Training Center Team will return to finish the historic preservation work begun last summer on the Civilian Conservation Corps steps. Restoration work continues on the historic Sculptor's Studio.

"We are excited to welcome back the National Park Service Historic Preservation Training Center Team as they complete the rehabilitation of the Civilian Conservation Corp stairway," stated Superintendent Schreier. "The team specializes in training craftspeople, preserving historic resources, and promoting preservation. With the completion of the rehabilitation of the Sculptor's Studio and the historic stairway, watch for a historic summer season in 2019."
