Keystone, South Dakota – The National Park Service at Mount Rushmore National Memorial and the park concessioner, Xanterra Parks and Resorts, invite you to the Grand Reopening of the gift shop and dining facility. The celebration will take place in the dining facility on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 14th at 11:00 a.m. There will be a ribbon cutting followed by samplings of Thomas Jefferson Ice Cream and Firehouse Winery wines.

The remodeled dining facility has been renamed the “Carvers’ Marketplace” to reflect the enhanced emphasis on fresh and regional foods. The remodel features a new interactive menu, new interior building design, a central entrance and spacious serving areas. The remodeled gift shop added more check out registers to decrease the wait time and features new product areas including sustainable products, a much wider selection of locally made products and an enhanced Made in the USA section. The parking facility decreased its price to $10 per vehicle; Active Military obtain free parking and senior citizens, 62 or older, only pay half price.

“In each step of the remodel, every effort was made to incorporate sustainable products and materials in conjunction with Climate Friendly Park program goals,” said Superintendent Schreier. “Xanterra Parks and Resorts has done an excellent job with the changes”.
