Centennial Summer Hours Begin

KEYSTONE, SD: Superintendent Cheryl Schreier announces the opening of the summer schedule for Mount Rushmore National Memorial beginning Friday May 27 at 9 pm with the first Evening Lighting Ceremony.


Everyone is invited to attend the evening program and lighting ceremony. The program is offered nightly at 9:00 p.m. through August 13, weather permitting. Beginning August 14 the evening program start time will change to 8:00 p.m. continuing through October 1. 

A park movie, museum and bookstore are located at the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center. Both the Visitor Center and the Information Center are open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. See Borglum's original model at the historic Sculptor's Studio open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily. Rent a self-guided audio tour from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Audio Tour building. 

The parking facility will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. through August 13. Beginning August 14 the hours will change to 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. 

The Xanterra Dining Room, Gift Shop and Memorial Ice Cream Shop hours are: 

May 27 – August 13  Gift Shop 8:00 a.m. –10:30 p.m.
   Carvers Cafe 8:00 a.m. –9:00 p.m.
   Ice Cream 11:00 a.m. –9:00 p.m.
August 14 – September 3  Gift Shop
8:00 a.m. –9:30 p.m.
   Cavers Cafe 8:00 a.m. –8:00 p.m.
   Ice Cream 11:00 a.m. –8:00 p.m. 

Superintendent Schreier invites everyone to, "Join us in celebrating 100 years of the National Park Service. Special programs and activities will be held throughout the summer including two special exhibits to be held in the Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center. This is the year to Find Your Park." 

All dates and program times are subject to change check at the information center or visitor center for the daily program schedule.
