The Mount Rushmore History Association at Mount Rushmore National Memorial will host author Jim Burnett for a book signing on Monday, June 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Borglum Museum and Visitor Center. He will be signing his book Hey Ranger! True Tales of Humor and Misadventure from America's National Parks.
After a thirty-year career as a park ranger at eight national parks, Jim Burnett has collected some classic examples of vacation miscues in his two books. The veteran ranger describes his stories as family-friendly examples of what can happen to ordinary people when “they head west but their trip goes south.” Chapter titles such as “Don’t Feed the Skunks” and “It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time” provide a hint of the entertaining and informative stories found in the book.
The author has been a guest on National Public Radio’s “Talk of the Nation,” ESPN Radio’s “The Outdoors Show” and a number of other radio and TV programs. His books have also been featured in a variety of print media, including Yellowstone Journal, the Miami Herald, The Salt Lake Tribune, and The Dallas Morning News.
The Mount Rushmore History Association operates three bookstores at the memorial as a cooperating association with the National Park Service. For more information on the book signing event, please contact the Mount Rushmore History Association bookstore at (605) 574-3142.
