The Mount Rushmore History Association at Mount Rushmore National Memorial will host author Bruce A. Raisch for a book signing on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lincoln Borglum Museum & Visitor Center. He will be signing Ghost Towns and Other Historical Sites of the Black Hills. Raisch is also the author of Ghost Towns of Idaho: The Search for El Dorado and Ghost Towns of Wyoming.

Raisch's books focus on western mining towns, railroads and other towns that have been abandoned. He explores these places of lost dreams and brings them back to life through his writing. It takes years of researching numerous resources about these places, as well as visiting each and every site, to really get a feel for what life was once like there. His research sometimes includes spending a night or two at one of the abandoned towns or its cemetery. Raisch likes to take the town’s history, combine it with his outdoor photography and then stir in some outdoor adventures to top it all off.

The Mount Rushmore History Association operates three bookstores and the Mount Rushmore Audio Tour at the memorial as a cooperating association with the National Park Service. For more information on the book signing event, please contact the History Association Bookstore at (605) 574-3166.
