Tavasci Marsh Ecology and Birding Walk April 14, 2012

On Saturday, April 14, 2012, Park Ranger John Lewis will guide a special ecology and birding walk at Tavasci Marsh in Tuzigoot National Monument. The four-hour walk will begin at 8:00 a.m. in front of the Tuzigoot National Monument Visitor Center. The terrain is mostly level, except for a short, significant incline at the beginning and end of the walk.

Participants should bring water, a hat, sturdy hiking shoes, and binoculars and/or a spotting scope if they have them. While the walk will not involve any wading, hikers may encounter mud if weather has been wet. Sunscreen and bug spray are also appropriate.

The monument is located at 25 Tuzigoot Road in Clarkdale, Arizona, accessed off Historic Highway 89A between Old Town Cottonwood and historic downtown Clarkdale. There is a $5.00 per person fee for entrance to the monument. Inter-Agency Federal passes-annual, senior, and access-are also accepted. There is no extra charge for the ecology and birding walk. For more information, please call the Tuzigoot Visitor Center at (928) 634-5564.
