The National Park Service will be celebrating its 104th birthday this August! Join us on August 22nd and August 23rd as we recognize the wonderful National Parks in Arizona and our amazing partners! While many of us may not be able to travel at this time, we have turned our biennial celebration into a virtual event on Facebook!
This fun (virtual) family event will feature Arizona's National Parks, National Monuments, Recreation Areas and much more! Festival favorites like coffee with a scientist, cultural demonstrations, and kids' activities will still be there! Learn about current research in the parks. Relax and enjoy music from across Arizona. You won't want to miss our National Park Service dance finale! More information, including a detailed schedule, can be found on the event page. To get all the latest updates, be sure to “attend” the event on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/events/333926064674490/
In addition to the virtual weekend, all National Parks will be fee free for the actual birthday on August 25th and Western National Parks Association will be offering a 15% discount all day at their park stores.
During this time, we are reminded to Recreate Responsibly:
· Know before you go
· Practice physical distancing
· Plan ahead
· Play it safe
· Explore locally
· Leave no trace
· Build an inclusive outdoors
Don’t forget to check the status of the park you plan to visit as some sites are currently offering limited or no visitor services. More information can be found online at: https://www.nps.gov/state/az.
Our staff will make every effort to ensure that children and adults of all abilities are fully included in all of our recreation programs, facilities, and parks. For questions about accessible amenities or to let us know how we may best meet your needs in any of our programs, please call Krystina Isaac, Lead Interpreter at (928) 567-3322x228 or email Krystina_isaac@nps.gov.
