Montezuma Castle & Tuzigoot National Monuments Celebrate Native American Heritage Month with Cultural Demonstrations and Performances.

Camp Verde, AZ / Clarkdale, AZ — In honor of Native American Heritage Month, Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments are excited to host weekly cultural demonstrations, performances, and presentations throughout the month of November 2022. November serves as a significant time when we recognize Native American people, celebrate their rich and vibrant cultures, and recognize their many sacrifices, contributions, and achievements to the nation. Come help celebrate this wonderful occasion in your parks!

All events are free with paid admission and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Please visit the parks website and social media sites for event details. Event schedule by location is as follows:

Montezuma Castle National Monument:
 

  • Hopi Katsinas with Ryon Polequaptewa – Sunday, November 20. Following the demonstration will be the dance: An Afternoon of Hopi Blessings and Prayers with Ryon Polequaptewa at 2 p.m.
  • Hopi Silversmithing and Jewelry with Jerry Whagado Saturday, November 26.
  • Tohono O’odham Pottery with Kathleen Vance – Sunday, November 27.

Tuzigoot National Monument:
 
  • Leather Working with Shawn Ramon Saturday, November 5 through Sunday, November 6.
  • Dine and Yavapai Apache Silversmithing with Dee Jackson - Saturday, November 12.
  • Zuni Inlay Silversmithing with Duran Gaspar – Sunday, November 13.
  • Zuni Fetishes with Jimmy Yawakia – Sunday, November 13.
  • Hopi Katsinas with Ryon Polequaptewa - Saturday, November 19.
  • Hopi Textiles with Davis Maho – Sunday, November 20.
  • Tohono O’odham Pottery with Kathleen Vance – Saturday, November 26.
Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments are extremely grateful towards partner Western National Parks Association (WNPA) who are a critical asset to the mission of the National Park Service (NPS).
