Montezuma Castle (Including Montezuma Well Unit) and Tuzigoot National Monuments Announce Fire Restrictions

Camp Verde, AZ / Rimrock, AZ / Clarkdale, AZ — Following similar restrictions from federal, state, and local jurisdictions, the National Park Service sites in Yavapai County - Montezuma Castle (including the Montezuma Well Unit) and Tuzigoot National Monuments are implementing fire restrictions. The following restrictions are established under the authority of Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations, §2.13(c) Fires, and § 2.21(a) Smoking and are effective beginning Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 8AM:

· Smoking is prohibited, including Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (E.N.D.S.), except when inside a personal vehicle.

· Igniting, building, maintaining a fire of wood / charcoal briquettes is prohibited. The use of liquid-fuel stoves is permissible in designated picnic areas only.

· The use of fireworks is prohibited year round (36 CFR 2.38 (b)).
