Montezuma Castle National Monument will improve shade coverage at two important areas on the trail to help bring relief during warmer temperatures. The National Park Service redesigned the interpretive circle to include a larger shade structure, as well as an additional shade structure to cover several benches for visitors to enjoy along the trail. Work will begin on December 10th, and last roughly 30 days. Ongoing construction will close the areas for visitor safety. Periodic construction noise will occur throughout the day and partial trail closures are possible.
“We are pleased to be making these upgrades for the benefit of our visitors. It can become quite hot during the summer months and by adding more shaded areas we are hoping that our visitors will spend more time enjoying themselves at the Monument” says Superintendent Dorothy FireCloud.
