Visitor Outreach Volunteer

Do you enjoy talking to people? Are you passionate about the Missouri River? Join our team as a Visitor Outreach Volunteer and help visitors learn about and build connections to the Missouri National Recreational River (MNRR) at lots of fun, community events!

Visitor Outreach Volunteers work alongside park rangers at community events where MNRR has a table/booth or our Mobile Ranger Station (our visitor center on wheels!). They provide outreach for the park by talking with visitors, sharing information about the park’s resources, answering questions, and leading interactive activities like trivia, crafts, and games. Prospective volunteers should enjoy meeting and talking with people of all different ages and backgrounds!

Visitor Contact Station Volunteer

Want to be a friendly face to represent the National Park Service? Greet visitors and help orient them to the park by staffing the Visitor Contact Station at the MNRR Headquarters in Yankton, SD!

During different interactions with visitors, Visitor Contact Station Volunteers may answer questions, give recommendations on things to do, teach visitors about some of the park's resources and history, set up the park film, and facilitate sales of MNRR merchandise. This can be a great opportunity to meet new people, advocate for all the fun things to do along the river, and gain experience working in visitor services.
