Mesa Verde, CO: U.S. Park Rangers at Mesa Verde National Park are seeking those responsible for the theft of a white utility trailer taken near the entrance to the park. The white 20-foot double axle pull-behind trailer displaying CO License Plate DSI238 was carrying 2 Honda generators and other equipment valued at over $40,000.U.S. Park Rangers at Mesa Verde National Park (www.nps.gov/meve) are seeking tips from the public to aid an ongoing investigation into the theft. Park officials say this activity occurred on Saturday November 26, 2022, at approximately 3 A.M. Park security cameras took pictures of a black pick-up involved with the theft. Stolen equipment was owned by a contracting company clearing hazardous rocks from the main park roadway. As a result of this theft, road work will take longer than anticipated and increasing traffic delays on the road coming into and out of the park.
Information from the public would be very helpful to investigators. If you have information that could help find those responsible, the park asks you to please submit a tip at one of the below phone numbers or email addresses. You don't have to tell us who you are, but please tell us what you know. An anonymous tip line has been set up by the National Park Service’s Investigative Services Branch to aid in the investigation. Please report any information you may have on this theft and help the park return the stolen trailer and tools to the contractor.
