We want to remind visitors that beginning January 2, 2020, entrance fees to Mesa Verde National Park will increase. In response to public comments on a fee proposal released in October 2017, there was a modest increase for all entrance fee-charging parks, rather than the higher peak-season fees initially proposed only for 17 highly-visited national parks. Revenue from entrance fees remains in the National Park Service and helps ensure a quality experience for all who visit. At Mesa Verde National Park, at least 80 percent of entrance fees stay in the park and are devoted to spending that supports the visitor. We share the other 20 percent of entry fee income with other national parks for their projects.
The new entrance fees for Mesa Verde are:
2020 |
||
Entrance Type | January 2 to April 30 November 1 to December 31 |
May 1 to October 31 |
Private Vehicle | $20.00 | $30.00 |

Annual Park Pass | $55.00 | $55.00 |

Fees are good for entrance to Mesa Verde National Park for up to 7 days. Entrance fees are not charged to persons under 16 years of age or holders of the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, Senior, Access, Military, or Volunteer Passes or the Annual 4th Grade Pass. These passes may be obtained at the Park.
“We are committed to keeping the park affordable, but we also want to provide visitors with the best possible experience,” said Mesa Verde National Park Superintendent Cliff Spencer. “The money from entrance fees is used to improve visitor facilities and amenities.”
Entrance fees have previously allowed for purchasing and installing water bottle filling stations and drinking fountains; providing additional visitor educational opportunities at Wetherill Mesa; construction of new restroom at Headquarters; and stabilization work at Spruce Tree House and Cliff Palace cliff dwellings. Upcoming projects include rehabilitation of the Morefield Amphitheater, additional stabilization work at archaeological sites throughout the park, maintaining and updating infrastructure, and continue to provide additional visitor educational opportunities.
Mesa Verde National Park is a strong economic engine for the surrounding area. In 2018, more than 563,420 park visitors contributed $58.5 million to the local economy and supported 828 jobs related to tourism.
