KINDERHOOK, NEW YORK – Rangers at Martin Van Buren National Historic Site are excited to offer an at-home Ranger Time program for children ages two through five!
This is an exciting time to learn about Martin Van Buren and what made him important. This program is designed to introduce children to elections, voting, and making important decisions through hands-on activities. Ranger Maryalice will use children’s books and fun crafts to help families learn about topics such as:
-
What does the President do?
-
Presidential campaigns
-
The process of voting
Activities will be released in three segments throughout the month of October. Families may learn more and download all materials necessary for the activities from our website.
In addition to the activities, children will have the opportunity to vote in their own election. Mortimer the Turtle and Foxy the Fox have both decided they want to be President of Lindenwald for the next four years! Over the next month, study their “platforms” and be on the lookout for their campaign videos on our Facebook page. Check out our website for more information on how you can vote for Mortimer or Foxy on November 3!
We invite families to upload photos of their participation to social media with the tag #LindenwaldDecision2020. For more information, call Martin Van Buren National Historic Site at 518-758-9689 or check our website at www.nps.gov/mava.
