There’s an abundance of places to visit because there are three communities to choose from. The Manhattan Project National Historical Park operates in the three primary locations of Manhattan Project: Hanford, Washington; Los Alamos, New Mexico; and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. At each site we have a visitor center where you can start your journey:

Choose a Visitor Center

    Hanford Visitor Center

    Hanford, WA produced plutonium for the Fat Man atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan on August 9, 1945.

    Los Alamos Visitor Center

    At the secret laboratory in Los Alamos, NM, scientists designed and built the world’s first atomic weapons.

    Oak Ridge, TN produced the enriched uranium for the Little Boy atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945.
