On August 9, 1945, the US Army Air Forces dropped the plutonium-fueled Fat Man atomic bomb over Nagasaki, Japan in the second, and so far, the last nuclear bombing in history. The Manhattan Project facility at Hanford produced the plutonium used in the Trinity test and the Fat Man bomb. We are offering this Lights for Peace virtual experience to commemorate the atomic bombings of Japan during the waning days of World War II and recognize the historical and emotional traumas of these events. |
