In 2022 Pearl Harbor National Memorial joined Days of Peace and Remembrance to commemorate the atomic bombings of Japan. We hope to expand our partners in future Days of Peace and Remembrance.

Honolulu (Pearl Harbor), Hawaii: On August 6 and August 7 of 2022, visitors participated in Messages of Peace by recording messages of inspiration and peace on paper bags that were used for the luminaria event. Visitors helped place luminarias along the shoreline of Pearl Harbor and engaged with National Park Service staff who shared stories of the peace and reconciliation that grew out of the harrowing reality of World War II.
