After Hours Event Venues

 
Host your memorable occasion on the picturesque, historic grounds adjacent to the Mount Tom forest. Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park can accommodate after hours events, gatherings, and ceremonies (no receptions) for up to 300 guests.

Small Group Exception: Events with up to five people (including photographers, officiants, or service providers) may not require a lease. Please contact the Permit Office for a full list of rules and regulations.
 

Venue Locations

There are four venue locations available for short-term lease at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller. Each offers a distinct atmosphere and historic character. Multiple venues will not be booked on the same date unless they are leased by the same group.

Formal Gardens

Formal Gardens

The Formal Gardens are located between the west side of the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Mansion and the east side of the Belvedere. The area includes a formal four square garden and a lawn positioned on a gentle slope, interspersed with a few flat spots.

Mansion Lawn

Mansion Lawn

The Mansion Lawn refers to the manicured lawns to the east and south of the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Mansion. This landscaped outdoor area is surrounded by hedges, blocking views of nearby Route 12.

Long Terrace Garden

Upper West Meadow

Long Terrace Garden
The Long Terrace Garden is a 400-foot-long, 40-foot-wide axial garden space located south of the Belvedere. Historic hedges surround the space.

Upper West Meadow

The Upper West Meadow is located north of the Horse Shed. The large, flat meadow is surrounded by a historic carriage road, Upper Meadow Road.
  • Size: 21,000 ft²
  • Capacity: 300 people
 

Restrictions and Guidelines

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller is not a traditional event venue. As a national park, our primary mission is the preservation and protection of cultural and natural resources. As such, additional restrictions apply. Please review the Park Area Conditions in full to ensure your selected venue meets the needs of your event. The restrictions outlined below highlight the most commonly asked questions.

  • All event spaces are fully outdoors. Leases include access to the event site and restrooms only.

  • Event planners and all equipment (tents, chairs, portable toilets, etc.) must be identified at the time of application. Equipment allowances vary by venue

  • A Certificate of Insurance naming “United States of America” named as additional insured is required before finalizing a lease.

  • All events must begin at 5:00 p.m. or later. Setup may begin at 4:30 p.m. and must be included in the lease timeframe.

  • Serving food and beverages requires advanced approval. Typically, only a champagne toast is permitted.

  • No decorations may be affixed to any park structures or natural features. Prohibited items include birdseed, rice, bubbles, glitter, balloons, animal releases, and non‑native plants.

 

Price Structure

  • Up to 50 people: $850/hour

  • 51-100 people: $975/hour

  • 101-175 people: $1,000/hour

  • 176-300 people: $1,500/hour

Payment Schedule

  • 10% due at the time of reservation

  • 40% due upon signing the lease agreement

  • 50% due 30 days prior to the event
