The Winter Fun Friday group consisting of mainly first and second graders from Woodstock Elementary School has been to the park twice already this winter to enjoy being outdoors in the snow. The energetic group of 10 students eagerly arrived on the first week to find a challenge waiting for them. With some assistance they got snowshoes strapped to their feet and practiced walking and running on the snow before playing Follow the Leader, the Hokey Pokey, and Red Light Green Light. On the second Winter Fun Friday the students were divided into teams and sent out to the trails and carriage roads in order to complete tasks in a scavenger hunt. Many were determined to complete everything on the list including finding something the same color as their boots and singing a song about snow. Others discovered a few interesting animal tracks and decided to follow them to see where they led, while finding other scavenger hunt items on their way. Both weeks have been fun and have provided some needed exercise for everyone involved.
