Contact: Sherry Justus, 830-868-7128 ext. 245 Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park will be increasing the fee to tour the "Texas White House," President and Mrs. Johnson’s home on the LBJ Ranch, to $2.00 beginning on March 1, 2010. The current fee is $1.00, which went into effect on October, 1, 2008. The fee is charged only for individuals aged 18 years and older. At present, four rooms of the 28-room house are open to the public by guided tour: the presidential office, the living room, the dining room and the kitchen. It is anticipated that two more rooms will be open for touring in 2010. Fees have provided additional staffing for delivering the tours, as well as dollars for preparing the house for visitors in such ways as restoring wallpaper and cleaning and repairing furniture. The fees will continue to be used entirely to support visitor services in the Texas White House complex, which includes the U.S. Secret Service Command Post and the historic airplane hangar. Visitors wishing to see the interior of the Texas White House should arrive at the hangar, now used for exhibits and as a staging area for the tours. Tours are given daily from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Until the week of January 4, the four rooms on the tour route will feature Christmas decorations owned by the Johnson family.
