Johnson City, Texas -- Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park has announced summer operating hours and tour times. The National Park Service visitor centers in Johnson City and at the LBJ Ranch near Stonewall will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm seven days a week. Visitors can view exhibits, films, and historic structures, as well as stroll on walking trails at both districts of the park. Young visitors are encouraged to complete an activity book and earn a junior ranger badge.
Tour Offerings
Beginning the week of May 27, President Johnson’s boyhood home in Johnson City will be open for tours from Thursday through Monday (closed on Tuesday and Wednesday) each week throughout the summer. Park rangers and volunteers will lead tours through the boyhood home at 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00 each day that the home is open.
Tours of the boyhood home will begin at the National Park Service visitor center at 100 E. Lady Bird Lane, one block south of the home, where a park ranger or volunteer will greet visitors and walk them over to the historic house. In the event of extreme summer temperatures, tours of the home may be limited as a safety precaution. Please check at the visitor center for tour availability each day.
At the LBJ Ranch this summer, park rangers and volunteers will lead tours from the hangar visitor center through the grounds outside of the Texas White House at 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00. Tours will be offered seven days a week. The 30-minute guided tours are free, but tickets are required. Tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis at the hangar visitor center. Be sure to stop first at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site for a map and a free driving permit.
