JOHNSON CITY, TX—Explore Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, including the LBJ Ranch, with a new official National Park Service mobile app. Use it on your next visit to Johnson City and Stonewall, Texas to discover the places and people that shaped the life and legacy of the 36th President of the United States. Download the app from iTunes or Google Play or find it online at www.nps.gov/lyjo/planyourvisit/app.htm.

The new app, which is available for both Apple and Android devices, includes several exciting features:
  • An interactive, digital park map that is easy to use while outdoors and features multiple zoom levels. A filter tool allows users to search for services within the park, including restrooms, water fountains, and Wi-Fi locations.
  • Information about points of interest, including lively text and photographs.
  • Self-guided walking tours through Johnson’s hometown of Johnson City and the Johnson Settlement, allowing visitors to discover Johnson's simple beginnings and learn about his frontier ancestry.
  • A digital companion on the 6-mile driving tour of the LBJ Ranch, allowing visitors to learn more about sites and structures along the way.
  • Audio-described sites, alternative text images, and built-in iOS or Android accessibility features that will let all people enjoy Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.

The new app will provide users with park information similar to the park website, as well as on-the-ground trip planning features. Users can tailor their visit by taking advantage of the app’s bookmarking and sharing features, which includes the option to share their park experience with friends and family using the photo collage feature.

In addition to using the app to navigate and learn about Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, visitors can use the app to explore the neighboring Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, including the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm where costumed interpreters carry out the day-to-day activities of an early 1900s Texas-German farm.

The app also allows you to download all the content to your smartphone before your visit. Downloading works best when connected to Wi-Fi. For best results when in the park, users should ensure GPS and location services on their mobile phones are turned on for the app.
