Online registration has been extended through Wednesday, March 27.Stonewall, Texas – Make plans to pedal your bicycle through the historic LBJ Ranch and along peaceful Texas Hill Country roads on Saturday, March 30, during the 12th annual LBJ 100 Bicycle Ride. The ride begins and ends on the LBJ Ranch near Stonewall. Cyclists will launch from the ranch’s airstrip at 9:00 am and choose routes of 10, 30, 42, and 62 miles. Registration fees are $65 per person (children 12 and under are $35). For more information and to register, visit: www.lbj100.bike. Online registration closes on March 23. Riders cannot register at the event. Gates open for the event at 7:00 am. Riders need to return to the LBJ Ranch before 4:30 pm when the entrance gate closes.
Bicyclists will pass under majestic live oak trees on the LBJ Ranch while rolling past historic landmarks such as the Texas White House and the family cemetery where President and Mrs. Johnson are buried. After exiting the ranch, cyclists will steer their way along beautiful byways and up and down rolling hills. For a special experience, Luci Johnson will share her family’s history at 1:00 pm while leading a one-hour bicycle tour of the LBJ Ranch.
In the past decade the LBJ 100 has grown from 400 riders in 2008 to more than 1,200 riders in recent years. This iconic Texas ride attracts cyclists from around Texas, the nation, and even foreign countries. This year, the National Park Service and Friends of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park are partnering with Holland Racing and Special Events to provide for this special day of outdoor adventure. Proceeds from the event support park educational programs, recreational opportunities, and historic preservation projects. This is truly a “Ride to Preserve History.”
