Stonewall, Texas -- Two special family friendly activities will highlight the weekend of October 10 and 11 at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. The park's Friends group is sponsoring a family fun run on Saturday, October 10, beginning at 9 a.m. and also a bike tour hosted by Luci Baines Johnson, President and Mrs. Johnson's younger daughter, on Sunday October 11, at 2 p.m. Registration for either or both is available at

The family fun run will include three routes, a 1K, a 5K and a 10K, all on the LBJ Ranch. The cost of participation includes a T-shirt for all participants registering on the Friends web site by September 30. Also included in the cost is a tour of the living room, dining room, kitchen and presidential office in the Texas White House. The bike tour, which will cover approximately nine miles, also includes the T-shirt and in the Texas White House. The cost for each activity is $20.00 for adults (ages 13 and higher), $15.00 for children (ages 12 and under), and a group rate of $50.00 for a family of three persons or more. Participants must register for each activity separately. The bike tour has a limit of 200 participants. There is no limit for any of the three fun run routes. Both events will be held rain or shine.

Participants in either the fun run or the bike ride are encouraged to make a day of it in the parks, both at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park (the LBJ Ranch) and Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site, which has many attractions including the Sauer Beckmann Farm, nature trails and wildlife, bison and Longhorn enclosures, and free fishing (no permit needed) on the Pedernales River. Picnic groves at the state park are available for those who wish to bring lunch or snacks.

Proceeds from both activities will benefit the educational programs and initiatives of the Friends of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park and the Johnson City Community Education Foundation. President and Mrs. Johnson were dedicated to the furtherance of education in all its forms, a mission which is upheld by both of their daughters to this day.
