Commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Death of Mary Lincoln Lincoln Home National Historic Site is pleased to be presenting programs to commemorate the 125th Anniversary of the death of Mary Todd Lincoln. Mary Lincoln died in Springfield at the home of her sister, Elizabeth Todd Edwards, on July 16, 1882. On Monday, July 16, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., Lincoln Home National Historic Site will host “MTL: The Last Years of Mary Todd Lincoln,” featuring Donna Daniels who will present a one woman dramatization depicting the last 17 years of Mary Lincoln’s life. On Tuesday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. a program titled, “Dressing Mrs. Lincoln,” will be presented by author and historian Donna McCreary who will discuss and illustrate Mary’s wardrobe choices and how they compared to the fashions of the day. Both programs will take place in theLincoln Home National Historic Site Visitor Center, 426 South Seventh Street, Springfield, Illinois. Other programs honoring Mary Lincoln include a wreath laying ceremony on Tuesday, July 17, at 6:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site and “Springfield Says Good-bye” at 7:30 p.m. at the Museum of funeral customs.
