Civil War to Civil Rights
In 2009, Lincoln Home National Historic Site presented “Emancipation and the Dream of Freedom: From Slavery to White House,” to dramatize the connection between the Civil War and Civil Rights eras. The performers were Fritz Klein as Abraham Lincoln; Jim Lucas, as Martin Luther King, Jr.; Kathryn Harris as Harriet Tubman; and, Michael Crutcher as Frederick Douglass. Kyle Westbrook served as narrator.
