Lewis and Clark National Historical Park offers opportunities to get outdoors and learn about the Corps of Discovery’s winter at Fort Clatsop. The park trails and the Fort Clatsop replica are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The park will be closed on December 24 and 25. Until further notice, the visitor center is closed due to the extreme risk level of Clatsop County.
During this holiday season, special virtual activities will be posted on the park’s social media pages such as our facebook page, our instagram, and our youtube. An audio tour of the park may be experienced by dialing (503)207-2240.
A unit of the National Park Service, Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, Fort Clatsop is located southwest of Astoria, Oregon, three miles southeast of U.S. Highway 101. The park includes the Fort to Sea Trail, visitor center, fort, Netul Trail, the Salt Works site near the Promenade in south Seaside, and two sites in Washington: the Middle Village/Station Camp site just east of Fort Columbia as well as the Dismal Nitch Rest Area east of the Astoria-Meglar Bridge. Plan for weather, slippery trails, and shorter days. Restrooms are available at Netul Landing. Bring water. Continue following CDC guidelines of physical distancing, wearing a mask when needed outdoors, and avoiding crowds. Dogs that are leashed to their humans are welcome on the trails.
