Astoria, OR – Lewis and Clark National Historical Park will hold a virtual public meeting on August 26, 2020 at 2 pm to present the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park Draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. As part of the planning process, the National Park Service is seeking public comment on the draft plan. Your participation is important to our planning process.

An interdisciplinary team, including park and regional staff, identified the key park experiences and evaluated park areas to determine which areas would be evaluated for accessibility needs. The team then developed implementation strategies for improving the accessibility at each location. The plan will guide changes to the way existing services, activities, and programs are provided in multiple locations throughout Lewis and Clark National Historical Park by defining what barriers limit accessibility and providing recommendations on how they can be modified or removed to increase accessibility for all users.

The park staff would like your input on the draft plan. A public virtual open house will be held on August 26 and will include a brief presentation describing the planning process and general park accessibility, followed by the opportunity for you to ask questions and share your perspectives on the draft plan. Your input continues to be important to the planning process and will help us as we work to ensure Lewis and Clark National Historical Park is more accessible to all visitors. The National Park Service values your interest in Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, and we look forward to your participation in this planning process. Please join us at our virtual public meeting as scheduled below:

August 26, 2020, 2 pm - 3:30 pm. The presentation will be made online via computer. Please contact the park via email to register and receive a link for the meeting.

If you will need any accommodations to participate, such as large print, braille, a sign language interpreter, or real-time captioning, please contact the park Chief of visitor Services, Jill Harding via email, or at 503-861-4421.

There are five Accessibility Self Evaluation and Transition Plans (SETP) that are currently being worked on in the Pacific Northwest area. These include Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, and San Juan Islands National Historical Park. Each park's draft plan will be made available for public review as they get closer to completion.

If you would like to provide input about the Draft Accessibility Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan but are unable to attend the public meetings, please submit your comments by visiting the project planning website.
