Night Skies

As an increasing number of open spaces are converted to urban or suburban areas, the beauty and wonder of the night sky is disappearing. The universe becomes obscured by the dull electric glow of every street lamp, house light and neon sign that casts its light into the night sky, making places of undisturbed darkness like Lake Roosevelt vital and unique.

Bring the family and join Park Rangers and members of the Spokane Astronomical Society as we explore the night skies over Lake Roosevelt. Visitors will be able to view the stars and other celestial objects through telescopes. See the stars like you never have before.

The program runs from 9:00 p.m. to Midnight in the center of the Marcus Town Park located five miles north of Kettle Falls on Highway 25. Bring warm clothes, a snack, and a blanket. Remember white flashlights are not stargazing friendly. If you need a flashlight please use red LED flashlights or flashlights with red-colored tape over them.

Due to the sensitive nature of the equipment and the nature of star gazing this event may be canceled because inclement weather.
