Fritch, Texas – Lake Meredith National Recreation Area will be holding the first of four scheduled “Movies at the Lake” events this year on Saturday, May 27, 2017. These coming events are part of the Evening Program Series to take place between Memorial Day to Labor Day in which, evening movies will be shown at the Fritch Fortress Amphitheater in Lake Meredith.
 
Lake Meredith National Recreation Area in conjunction with “Project Fritch America” and the “Friends of Lake Meredith and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument is proud to announce “Movies at the Lake”. “Free” movie showings will be provided throughout the summer. New to the Fritch Fortress area is the Snack Shack, which has been recently added to the site. The Snack Shack will be staffed during the presentations by Project Fritch America and members of the Friends group. Goodies such as popcorn, candy bars, water and soft drinks will be available for sale during the showings. Donations will be accepted by both non-profit organizations to offset the cost of purchasing the movie copyrights.

Saturday, May 27, 2017 – “Rogue One: A STAR WARS STORY - From Lucasfilm comes the first of the standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things. Wear your favorite Star Wars costume and join in with the fun.

Sunday, July 2, 2017 – “Independence Day” - In the epic adventure film “Independence Day”, strange phenomena surface around the globe. The skies ignite. Terror races through the world’s major cities. As these extraordinary events unfold, it becomes increasing clear that a force of incredible magnitude has arrived; its mission: total annihilation over the Fourth of July weekend. The last hope to stop the destruction is an unlikely group of people united by fate and unimaginable circumstances.

Saturday, August 5, 2017 – “Moana” - In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches an impetuous Chieftain’s daughter’s island, she answers the Ocean’s call to seek out the Demigod to set things right. Sail with Moana and Maui on this darling mission across the open ocean.

Saturday, September 2, 2017 – “Beauty and the Beast – The fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young women who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.
