Celebration of the Plains Indian Culture at Alibates

Beginning, Saturday, February 18, 2017, Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument will host a series of Plains Indian Village Cultural Weekends, “Alibates Fingerprints”, the third weekend of each month through September 17. These events will trace the legacy of people at Alibates and examine their unique connections to the land. Each weekend’s program will focus on a different Native American skill/art demonstrated around our continually growing mock plains village site. Interactive demonstrations will include hide tanning, native weapons building and use, friction fire building, pottery making, Native American clothing and trade, and storytelling. These demonstrations will be in addition to the Park’s normal programing and visitors are encouraged to participate.

All programs are free.
