UPCOMING EVENTS LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA EVENTS MAY 5 – 26
BOULDER CITY, Nevada. – The following Lake Mead National Recreation Area events are happening May 5 to 26

Las Vegas Science & Technology EXPO, May 5
Join the Southern Nevada Public Lands Partners (National Park Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service) for a public event at the World Market Center May 5. Attendees will learn about camping on public lands that surround Las Vegas. Youth will have the chance to pack their gear for a successful camping trip outdoors. Ranger Chat: Water Safety and You, May 6 and 13
Join rangers at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 6 and to learn about the variety of ways to stay safe this summer. Rangers will demonstrate proper life jacket usage and share tips to enhance awareness of how to be safe while recreating on the lake. For more information, call 702-293-8990
 
Ranger Program: Wings and Wildlife Festival, May 12
Join rangers at Pyramid Canyon Park and Trails, in Laughlin, Nevada, for the annual Wings and Wildlife festival from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 12. Activities will include birdhouse painting, a wildlife treasure hunt, kite flying, bird watching and horse activities. Rangers will offer a family friendly Birding 101 activity at the park service table. Partnering in the event will be the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Laughlin Chamber of Commerce, Clark County Parks and Recreation, Laughlin Elks Lodge 2872, American Legion Post 60 and more. Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day, May 18
People across the nation will be adjusting their work attire May 18 in celebration of Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day. Help Lake Mead National Recreation Area celebrate National Safe Boating Week by wearing a life jacket to work. Snap a picture, and share it on social media using #lifejacket2work and #safeboating.
 
Ranger Program: Ready, Set, Wear It, May 19
Join rangers at the Katherine Landing Marina from 2 to 4 p.m. for a world-wide record attempt for the most life jackets worn as part of National Safe Boating Week. Rangers will have a variety of life jackets and family friendly activities. Come take a photo while wearing a life jacket and learn safe boating tips for adventures on the lake. Ranger Chat: Bugs and Blooms, May 20
Join a ranger at the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 20 to learn more about the interrelated and dynamic relationships wildflowers and insects in the Mojave Desert share. For more information, call 702-293-8990.
 
Ranger Chat: The Mojave Desert: A Magical Land, May 26
Stop by the Lake Mead Visitor Center at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 26 to learn about this vibrant desert home. From the desert bighorn sheep found in the rugged mountains to the smallest beavertail cactus, life is abundant and thriving in what many think is a barren landscape.
