Contact: Megan Richotte, 907-781-2135 Lake Clark National Park & Preserve operates a salmon counting tower on the Newhalen River below Six Mile Lake. Salmon escapement counts assist the park in meeting our congressionally mandated purpose to protect the watershed for the perpetuation of the red salmon fishery of Bristol Bay. 230,844 sockeye salmon passed the counting tower during their migration upriver to spawning grounds between June 30 and August 6, 2013. This year's daily counts and historic daily and cumulative counts are available. |
