2024 Theme: Through My Lens

Captivating colors, abundant wildlife, dynamic landscapes, and stunning views that seemingly never end – we all experience Lake Clark National Park and Preserve through a different lens. With curious minds, we come to this park to feel and have all our senses awakened as we surround ourselves with the magnificence of nature. In these invigorating and inspirational moments, we lift our camera and capture a chapter of our lives for eternity. These images leave a profound, lasting impact and a chance for reflection. And now, we want to see your story come to life through the 2024 Lake Clark Photo contest #LACLThroughMyLens.
 
 
 

How to Enter

Between January 21 and February 3, 2024, you can enter the contest by posting your photos on Instagram with the hashtag #LACLThroughMyLens. In addition to using the hashtag, entrants must also tag the official Lake Clark Instagram page, @lakeclarknps.
Photos may also be submitted by email. When submitting by email, please fill out the generated form, and we will respond back with guidelines on how to submit your photos for consideration.
 

The Voting Process

On February 3, ten finalists will be selected by judges at Lake Clark National Park & Preserve and will be posted on Lake Clark’s official Instagram account (@LakeClarkNPS) and Facebook. The public will then be invited to vote for their favorite photo through Instagram and Facebook. On Instagram, users are encouraged to comment the numbers of their first choice and runner up. On Facebook users are encouraged to like the individual photos of their first choice and runner up. Users are welcome to vote on both platforms but are asked to only submit one vote per social media platform. The three submissions receiving the highest number of votes by 11:59pm AKST on February 11, plus one staff favorite will be declared the 2024 winners of the photo contest.
 

Winners Will Receive

Each of the winners will have an opportunity to be interviewed and have their story shared in collaboration with the National Park Service campaign, My Park Story, and have their interview published as an article on the Lake Clark website and featured on social media channels. Each winning photo will be featured as Lake Clark’s Facebook cover photo for one month.The four photos will also be permanently located on the website in a digital gallery collection. A copy of each winning photograph will be printed, framed, and displayed at the park visitor center along with a small placard introducing the photographer. After the visitor center closes for the winter, the prints will be used for future education and interpretive activities.

Contest Rules and Regulations

  1. Photos must be taken within the boundaries of Lake Clark National Park & Preserve. With your submission, you must state the location.
  2. Entries must be your own and watermarks of any kind are not permitted. If a watermark is featured, your entry will not be considered.
  3. Maximum 4 entries per person.
  4. Only photos submitted on Instagram with the hashtag #LACLThroughMyLens and the Lake Clark Instagram page (@lakeclarknps) tagged, or photos submitted by email will be considered. When submitting by email, please fill out the generated form, and we will respond back with guidelines on how to submit your photos for consideration.
  5. The contest is open to all. Entrants under 18 years of age require the permission of a parent or guardian. By entering the contest, entrants under 18 years of age indicate that they have obtained the permission of a parent or guardian.
  6. Park visitors, local residents, park partners, and CUA employees are encouraged to submit. The contest is not open to Lake Clark NPS employees.
  7. Entries must show best practices for visiting national parks and public lands. Photographers and visitors must respect the land and abide to Leave No Trace and other safety precautions at all times. Images containing illegal or prohibited activities will be disqualified.
  8. All photographs that include people whose faces can be recognized must also submit a Likeness Form to be signed by each individual in the photograph upon being declared a winner. Note that this does not grant the park perpetual use of the photo.
  9. All images must be posted by 11:59pm AKST on Saturday, February 3, 2024, to be eligible.
  10. By submitting a photo, the contestant agrees to provide the park with a high-quality file of the image (for printing purposes) (if selected as a finalist), and the photographer’s information upon being declared a winner.

Usage of the hashtag #LACLThroughMyLens text and tagging @lakeclarknps shows us that you have read and understand the contest rules, intend to have your photo be part of the contest, and understand that if selected as one of the four winners, your photos will be permitted to be used for various digital and print interpretative products. Proper photo credit will be given.
