Arctic Ranger Perspectives

About This Blog

Hello from the Arctic Circle! Kobuk Valley National Park, Noatak National Preserve, and Cape Krusenstern National Monument are collectively known as Western Arctic National Parklands. Our remote location requires a plane ride, as there is no road access! This often makes it difficult for visitors to interact with our Park Rangers. Arctic Ranger Perspectives brings our staff to YOU! Visit with us virtually and learn more about what it is like being a ranger way up north!

Floating the Kelly River in Noatak National Preserve

October 13, 2020 Posted by: Deanna DePue

Join Ranger Deanna as she heads out into the field with Law Enforcement Ranger, Jim. Their trip into Noatak National Preserve includes them floating down the Kelly River on rafts where they experience a bear encounter, navigate floating a river, see porcupines and bald eagles, and camp underneath the midnight sun.
