An outdoor photography workshop will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Knife River Indian Villages NHS from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Central Time. Participants should meet at the visitor center.

Photographer Garry Redmann from Bismarck will be leading the workshop.  Garry has been taking photos for 48 years. He taught at Bismarck State College for 25 years encouraging students in the field of photography.  Garry has photographed seven North Dakota governors as well as many other dignitaries.

In addition to those images, he is known for his wildlife and flower images of the North Dakota landscape. He is a past member of the Professional Photographers of America and North Dakota. His photography experience provides him with an excellent background to lead the workshop.

"With the latest moisture and warm temperatures in the forecast, vegetation will be greening up in the park, making it a perfect setting for photography" says Superintendent Wendy Ross.  She encourages everyone to attend the workshop and experience spring in the park.

Workshop participants will be spending time in the field at the park. All camera formats are welcome from "point and shoot," to digital SLR to film. Appropriate shoes and outer clothing suitable for spring weather and walking in the park are encouraged. Participants may bring a sack lunch or purchase lunch locally in Stanton.

Participants do not need to pre-register for the workshop and there is no charge for the event. For more information, you can call the park at 701-745-3300.
