Whether you are a beginning or an experienced birder, you are welcome to join the Eighth Annual Knife River Bird Walk on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Meet at the 7-Trails Trading Post (just south of the park) at 7:00 a.m. Central Time. Dalles and Marilyn Krause of Hazen will be leading the walk.

Superintendent Wendy Ross says "Please join us during this eventful time of year to identify birds and experience the park.  After the never ending winter, people are excited to be in the outdoors and experience nature."

Again, birders of all experience levels are welcome to participate in the event. Bring your binoculars, spotting scopes and identification manuals for a fun filled, educational opportunity in the park.

The Knife River Indian Heritage Foundation, sponsor of the event, invites all participants for a hearty post-birding breakfast and wrap-up of the bird walk. Breakfast will be enjoyed at the 7-Trails Trading Post.

All activities are free. For additional information, please contact the park at (701) 745-3300.
