Garner Creek Backcountry Campsite
Camping in Kings Mountain National Military Park is only allowed at Garner Creek Campsite.
  • All visitors planning to make use of the campsite must register at the park visitor center before heading out.
  • There is no fee for use of the campsite, but registration is required.
  • No reservations will be taken, registration is on a first come first serve basis.
  • The maximum number of days that visitors can stay at the Garner Creek Campsite is seven (7).
  • The Garner Creek Backcountry Campsite holds 10-12 people.
  • A three (3) mile hike is required to access the campsite.
  • Visitors are welcome to leave their vehicles in the visitor center parking lot overnight while using the campsite. There is no charge, but the park will not assume responsibility for any vehicle.
  • There are no amenities available at the Garner Creek Backcountry Campsite.
  • Cellular service is intermittent to unavailable.
  • Fires are only permitted within the established fire ring or pit.
  • Firewood originating from outside of the park is prohibited.

The adjoining state parks have more camping options available. Kings Mountain State Park has a 116-site campground that is open year-round; and offers tent, RV and group sites. Crowders Mountain State Park has individual and group campsites available for backpackers only. More information is available below.
