Keweenaw National Historical Park (NHP) is pleased to announce two appointments to the Keweenaw National Historical Park Advisory Commission. Glenn Anderson is a new appointment representing the interests of the State of Michigan. Karin Cooper, representing the Houghton County Board of Commissioners, has also been reappointed to a second term on the Commission.

The Commission, composed of seven volunteer citizens appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, represents the public and works collaboratively with the National Park Service to manage the resources of Keweenaw NHP. Appointees are expected to attend quarterly meetings and actively participate in matters that affect Keweenaw NHP and its partners throughout Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula.

Mr. Anderson is the former City Manager for the City of Hancock, MI. He is familiar with the work required to preserve and adaptively reuse historic buildings and has been a strong supporter of the park’s mission through his involvement with the Quincy Mine Hoist Association. Mr. Anderson replaces Scott MacInnes, who represented the State of Michigan in the Advisory Commission since 2016.

Ms. Cooper currently works as a Project Architect with U.P. Engineers & Architects. She has an extensive background in preservation work and adaptive reuse of historic buildings and has worked on numerous projects related to Keweenaw National Historical Park. Ms. Cooper has served one 3-year term on the Commission and currently serves as the Commission’s secretary.
