The Keweenaw National Historical Park Advisory Commission is pleased to announce that this year’s Keweenaw Heritage Grant program has awarded $124,902 in funding for various historic preservation, interpretation, education, and curatorial projects covering an area stretching from Eagle Harbor to the Porcupine Mountains.
24 grant applications were received this year with 14 chosen to receive awards. Projects ranged from: building and historic resource repair and maintenance, visitor accessibility improvements, collections digitization and management, and educational field trips.

Since 2008, the Keweenaw Heritage Grant program has awarded $1.8 million to owners and operators of historic properties and providers of history programs in support of projects that further the preservation and interpretation of the story of copper on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Keweenaw NHP Advisory Commission, paneled by citizens appointed by the Secretary of the Interior, represents the public and works collaboratively with the National Park Service to advise and assist with managing the resources of Keweenaw National Historical Park.
